Our Downtown Atlanta client has an immediate need for a Senior Web Specialist for a contract running through 06/30/2009 rated at $50/hr. (W2).
Specific responsibilities include:
This position will report to the current IT Manager who is responsible for all aspects of application development and maintenance in a departmental sized IT organization. The candidate’s role is to define, develop, test, analyze and maintain new software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements. This includes writing, coding, testing and analyzing software programs and applications. The candidate will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. Primarily, the candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of existing Java based applications, as well as, the design, development and implementation of system enhancements to the state procurement modules. Working with the IT organization and the user departments, the candidate will apply industry accepted best practices, as well as, principles and processes uniquely related to Java-based applications in developing efficient and effective programs. The successful candidate will have significant experience working within a J2EE development environment with proficiency in Java, JSP, Javascript and HTML. The candidate will also have experience in communicating with system users and in successfully understanding, documenting, implementing and maintaining user requirements in designing software applications.

Seeking an experienced web-developer to help a small team build a next-generation e-commerce/community-focused web 2.0 property. This is a full time position.
Required Experience
* Proven experience building highly interactive web front and back ends
* Experience in systems configuration and setup as needed for web2.0 and e-commerce
* Ability to show us working, live sites you have built as well as code samples from those sites. You should be able to explain what was most challenging about building those sites.
* Proven track record in the LAMP stack:
** Code for scalability and strong OOP skills
** Strong understanding of http, sessions, web load balancing, etc.
** PHP5 a must
** Mysql database design (from a coder’s perspective) a must-have.
** *nix environment only– no Windows-only coders please
** Understand and have hands-on experience with, but not necessarily blind adherence to the MVC model
** Perl, sh, java experience a plus. qcodo and drupal a big plus
** Experience with dhtml/AJAX very desirable
* Able to respond to emergency system situations: server down, db down, interface w/payment processor failing
* Strong user knowledge of unix, and an ability to investigate system-based problems if they arise, e.g. process eating up memory, hard drive failing, etc
* Able to debug existing code base and problems if a customer is having a problem as a result of a bug, or if we are having fulfillment problems due to same
