Senior Product Engineer , Enabling Technologies
As a part of T-Mobile’s Product Development group be a part of the team which is responsible for our new mobile phone client/server architectures which allow rapid prototyping, quicker time to market/easier client implementation and customer driven innovation..
Major areas of responsibility include the following:
* Define strategic direction for product roadmap across a broad range of handset technologies including Open OS/Android, Java Virtual Machine, OMA SynchML DM and DS, Presence etc.
* Define technology solutions for products that bring to life T-Mobile’s brand promise such as MyFaves.
* SME for development of handset and server requirements to define the flexible Next Generation architecture in detail.
* Recommend new technology directions in collaboration with other Product development teams.
* Support OEMs in the proper integration, test and evaluation of first Next Generation engine prototypes from OEMs.
* Develop and document concisely written requirements and use-cases.
* Assist with implementation and validation of the Next Generation software architecture of Mobile telephones.
* Act as SME and Next Generation platform technical point of contact for development of applications by 3rd parties.
Qualifications:
* Understanding of Software Architecture for embedded code on consumer electronics devices
* Good understanding of GSM/GPRS client server architecture, supplementary services, SMS, MMS, and WAP
* Knowledge of Mobile Internet Standardisation. OMA, IETF & 3GPP.
* Effective planning and resource management of technology projects.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Effective presentation skills.
* Knowledge of development life cycle management.
* Understanding of software API requirements and development required.
* Able to drive Handset OEM to deliver the needed core engine to support the Next Generation product aka Universal Client.
* 3 plus years experience in mobile or software development industries.
* A strong understanding of the capabilities of low MIPS processors - ARM 7 - 9 - 11 using real time operating systems and ability to implement world class UI.
* Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced and constantly changing work environment.
* Knowledge of computer graphics rendering a plus.
* MS or BS in Telecommunications Engineering, EE, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
