IT Client Server Prog/Analyst II-Research

This is an Exempt position.
Job Description: Candidate will apply advanced skills to develop, test, document and install moderate-to-complex research analysis client/server and web software for both the Research Lab Information Management Systems (RLIMS) and Research Knowledge Information Management Systems (RKIMS). Candidate will provide day-to-day support for existing Research applications, as well as investigate ways to improve performance for existing Research applications. Candidate will have the ability to work on and assume responsibility for moderate-to-complex projects with gradually decreasing direction and will consistently demonstrate a desire to learn and apply new technologies. Candidate will develop and enhance cross-platform (Linux, Windows) programs to aid the analysis of research data, conduct performance improvement analysis of new and existing SQL and will function as an expert in one or more client server and web programs. Candidate may be consulted on occasion by others in the group for guidance.
Requirements: Candidate will have a minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and 3-5 years experience and knowledge of relational databases (PL/SQL – Oracle strongly preferred), client/server (Java), web page (CSS/HTML) and web server (Linux/Apache) concepts. Ideally candidate will have experience in several of the following: LIMS, Bash/KSH/CSH/SH/TCL, Perl, JavaScript, XML, Cold Fusion, PHP, ASP, Oracle APEX, CVS/SVN, UML, VB Script.
Experience working with scientific users, process control work (e.g. PLC, OPC, LabView, laboratory data acquisition, RS Logix 5000, ladder logic and Allen Bradley programming) is desired, but not required.
