Job Description:

The Senior Software/System Architect must have extensive experience in the coordination of program and project leaders to identify requirements for system architecture. Must be able to identify strategies for addressing requirements. Must have extensive experience with analysis of requirements against fiscal, schedule, and performance issues. Has extensive experience in taking program requirements and is able to create an architecture vision having experience in high volume and high availability networks and systems. Experience in creating and conveying to team members the architectural vision for a program or project. Is responsible for dictating design choices to software developers, including but not limited to: platforms, coding and technical levels. Experience in establishing and enforcing standards and practices. Overseeing the development team, the Senior Software Architect manages the full life cycle of the software development process. Has extensive software development experience and thorough knowledge of a variety of programming languages and logic.

This position can be done remotely from your home office within the U.S. or on-site in Austin, TX. The Schedule will be 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.

Primary Responsibilities

Perform discovery and requirements analysis for new system features, analysis of current system capabilities and limitations and design/engineer new system capabilities to meet requirements.
Provide SME level support on current VA network and server infrastructure monitoring tools such as CA Spectrum Infrastructure Manager, CA Service Operations Insight, and CA Virtual Assurance, CA Unified Infrastructure Management, Orion Solarwinds, CA eHealth, CA NetQoS and other similar system management tools.
Customize CA Spectrum Infrastructure Manager, CA Service Operations Insight, and CA Virtual Assurance to provide dashboards, monitoring and alerts for monitored network and server infrastructure environments.
Integrate network and server infrastructure monitoring tools with other monitoring systems and reporting/dashboard tools.
Assist Enterprise Service Desk, IT, and performance testing staff on the use of the network and server infrastructure performance monitoring and availability of systems to find the root cause of performance and availability issues.
Develop standards, policies and procedures around the use of the network and server infrastructure performance monitoring and availability suite of products in the pre-production and production environments, and provide all recommendations to and for approval by the COR/VA PM(s) prior to implementation or changes.
Participate in tuning and troubleshooting efforts.
Work with customers to resolve identified performance and availability issues.
Adhere to all ITOPS IO and National VA program and naming standards.
Support, install, configure, and perform fault isolation for server migration and operating system upgrades. The migration and upgrade shall be accomplished on time and with insignificant user impact.
Document the technical procedures and guidelines used to install, configure and administer servers. Create a complete documentation package from the gathered information.

Basic Qualifications

Masters Degree Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business or related scientific /technical discipline, plus 10 years of experience.  An additional 10 years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree.
U.S. Citizenship is required per government contract.
Ability to work in a matrix team environment, actively and effectively managing relationships with customers, build and release managers, technical teams, product development, project managers, and other application managers.
Experience leading information technology projects involving innovation and/or modernization.
Experience developing and reporting upon metrics relative to operational and financial performance.
Excellent organization and analytical skills.
Exceptional ability to communicate with leadership, staff and customers
Must have the technical expertise required to manage the various monitoring tool capabilities, specifically AppDynamics, Aternity, and Dynatrace.
